Big Brother star forced to remove prosthetic legs during 'incredibly awkward' live launch

Big Brother is back for another year and last night’s (13 September) live launch wasn’t short of the usual chaos that if we’re honest, we’ve come to expect.

There was the Queen of Scotty Road shouting his viral line into the lens while one housemate ended up taking off her prosthetic legs.

Charlotte was making her way towards the infamous house live on ITV2 when she appeared to stumble on the ground and broke her shoe.

Because of this, the 18-year-old couldn’t walk properly and she ended up joining hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best on stage without her prosthetic legs.

Of course, this moment has gone viral with it becoming one of the biggest talking points of the Big Brother launch. And while some found it was ‘incredibly awkward’ to watch on live TV, she’s been praised for doing it.

Initially, Best went over to get the student’s heel back on but as she tried to walk up the stairs, cameras appeared to cut away to show the housemates already inside.

Charlotte could still be heard instructing how to remove her prosthetic legs.

And as she was then shown chatting to the hosts, she said: “My legs! My shoe came off. I’m so sorry, I had to take my legs off.”

Odudu told her there was ‘nothing to apologise for’ as the live audience cheered for Charlotte.

Then, as she made her way into the house – marking her first time living away from home – she shouted down the corridor: “I’m in the Big Brother House with no legs!”

The Oxford teen lost both of her hands and both of legs as a child after contracting meningitis.

She said she’s ‘always wanted to go on’ Big Brother and finally applied this year as she was old enough to enter.

And if she does win, she reckons she’d put ‘a lot of’ the prize money into savings.

“My prosthetic legs are about £25,000 per leg, so probably put half in savings and then the other half. And just go on a nice holiday, just kind of spend it,” Charlotte explained.

The self-confessed 'straight talker' also said viewers are 'probably going to be surprised' at the things which are 'most normal' for her.

"Obviously, as a quadruple amputee, people are surprised at anything I do, even normal things like cooking, doing my makeup, getting dressed, stuff like that. And obviously they're going to be watching me 24 hours a day so they're going to see me do all those things," she said before entering the house.

Viewers are already calling her 'iconic' while others are concerned her views and outspokenness is going to 'start some drama'.
