Friends fans discover plot hole in series more than 30 years later that they 'never noticed'

Did Ross forget about this season one admission, or have the writers had a blunder?

Friends is by far and away the most popular sitcom of the last 30 or so years, but it seems even the best make the odd blunder time to time.

Originally airing in 1994, the NBC sitcom would go on to run for 10 seasons, with the success resulting in all six cast members earning $1 million per episode in seasons nine and 10 and much more in the years since it wrapped.

Several Friends moments have gone down in pop culture history, like Chandler and Monica's iconic bed scene, Joey's 'How you doin?' catchphrase or the classic - 'Pivot!!'

While many may proclaim the show to be the perfect comedy series, it does come with its downsides and alleged plot holes.

For instance, many have wondered how Monica and Rachel could afford such a big apartment on their minimal salaries, or if Phoebe's roommate actually exists.

However, one social media user seems to think they've found one in particular that 'stood out' most to them.

It's all to do with Ross, and no, it's not the fact that he said he was 29 in three different seasons, or that we just stop seeing his son in later seasons.

Apparently, the character forgot who he lost his v-card to. Or at least, the writers did.

Speaking in season one episode 23, Ross says: "My first time with Carol was my first time," confirming that she was the only woman he had been with.

It's a wholesome sentiment, especially as he's in the waiting room of a hospital while she gives birth to their son.

She was his first love after all, despite their slightly messy split.

But it turns out that this may not have been true at all.

In season seven episode four of the series, Monica, Ross and Chandler all reveal embarrassing secrets about each other in a theatrical shouting exchange, in what is one of the funnier bits of dialogue in the show.

We learn that Ross has a toilet accident at a theme park, Chandler won a Vanilla Ice lookalike contest and that Monica couldn't tell the time until she was 13.

It's great, until it's revealed that Ross slept with the lady that cleaned his and Chandler's college dorm, despite the huge admission six seasons earlier.

The characters find it hilarious, but it takes away from the significance of solely being with Carol until his split.

In the comments of the clip, which was posted to YouTube, fans shared what they really thought, as one wrote: "Well i'll be damned. Never noticed that."

Another pointed out: "Well judging his reaction he seemed to have forgotten it, so not much of a plothole."

A third agreed: "I mean he did forget he did it"

A fourth posted: "He didn't forget or lie, he literally just SLEPT with the old lady, which is a very college-Ross thing to do."

What do you think? A miss by the writers or a classic Ross Geller moment?
