People are getting worried about history repeating itself as a series from the Game of Thrones creators has dropped on Netflix.

The new show landed in the UK this morning (21 March) and it’s quite a change from the popular fantasy action-drama.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss created Game of Thrones together, and have collaborated with Alexander Woo, for the show starring the likes of John Bradley, Benedict Wong, Eiza González, Liam Cunningham and Alex Sharp.

The new Netflix sci-fi thriller explores how a woman’s ‘fateful decision’ back in the 1960s in China ‘reverberates across space and time into the present day’.

Watch the trailer here:

In 3 Body Problem, a group of scientists ‘join forces with an unorthodox detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history’.

Yeah, like I said, quite a different vibe to Game of Thrones.

But the fact that it’s created by Benioff and Weiss is putting some viewers off.

Users on X say they were about to start watching it on Netflix today but seeing the creator’s names was an ‘immediate no’, with another saying it gave them ‘PTSD’.

One wrote: “Sis, I screamed “Benioff and Weiss?????” And closed it immediately.”

The show is now streaming on Netflix.

As fans will know, not everyone was particularly happy with the pair as Game of Thrones came to an end.

Some fans accused them of ‘ruining’ the iconic show as it came to its conclusion and say they ‘really f**ked the end’.

And one user wrote: “I love sci-fi but I refuse to watch any show made by David Benioff & Dan Weiss. Have not forgiven them for what they did to game of thrones.”

With another putting: “Benioff and Weiss better not screw up 3 Body. My expectations are high.”

And others are drawn to the new series purely because of the creators as a user put: “Now watching 3 Body Problem not knowing the plot or the cast and only that Benioff and Weiss produced it. Let's see what this is giving.”

While another added: “Benioff and Weiss haters are having a tough day today.”

An adaptation of a Chinese novel, the series has been a mixed bag with viewers so far, sitting with a 50 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

More positively though, it’s currently got 76 percent on the Tomatometer.

Viewers on X say it has their ‘jaw dropped’ as it has ‘some truly wild sci-fi stuff’.
