House of the Dragon viewers left traumatised by incest scene in latest episode

Viewers have finally found their line in a show full of incest

No matter how f**ked up a show gets, everyone has their line.

Whether it be violence or sex-related, everyone has something that when taken too far will have them going: “I’m tapping out”.

And for anyone who watches House of the Dragon - and Game of Thrones before that - the bar simply has to be higher.

Both are chock full of violence, f**ked up sex, and harsh language, that going in you know what you’ve signed up for really.

The newest episode may not be the first time incest has played a role in Westeros - I mean there's a whole incestous family ruling the country.

But for many – a scene in the new House of the Dragon episode is where many drew their personal line.

The show’s second season has seen fiery dragon battles, child assassinations, and constant drama, but Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) has been taking a bit of a back seat as of late.

Daemon has spent the last few episodes holed up in Harrenhal experiencing various hallucinations, all while attempting to raise an army for his niece-wife, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy).

In his visions, he has seen a younger version of Rhaenyra brought back by actor Milly Alcock, as well as various other creepy scenes.

Where this episode drew the line with viewers, however, was a hallucination with Daemon and his mother.

And for those in the back going ‘no, that can’t be the incest scene they mean, surely not’. Yep. They did.

Daemon and his deceased mother Alyssa Targaryen, for lack of a better term, get it on.

In the scene, his mother is seen giving him compliments, calling him 'the strong one' and a 'fearless dragonrider'.

"But you Daemon, you were made to wear it. If only you'd been born first. My favorite son." she says.

This bizarre scene had viewers covering their eyes and Oedipus spinning in his grave.

One fan posted on X to say: “I just watch finished watching house of the dragon episode 5 and this scene of Daemon having sex with his mother is so cringe, disgusting and absolutely unnecessary.

“These shows are taking this incest thing to another level like what was even the aim??”

Another said: “Listen, Daemon having sex with his mother is next level disgusting.. I know Targaryen’s have weird customs.. but this is absolutely gross, whose idea was this???”

And a third said they weren't 'expecting' to see Daemon 'eating out his mom'.

One fan however, reckons if you’re shocked by this scene, it’s on you.

They wrote: “Daemon having weird psychosexual nightmares about nailing his mom is the natural consequence of Targaryens blurring the lines of romantic and familial love so idk why you all are shocked”.

While someone else posted on the r/HouseoftheDragon subreddit with the following Community meme of Britta saying: “I can excuse incest but I draw the line at incest”.
