Jeremy Clarkson is returning to TV for new car show

Jeremy Clarkson is set to star in a car show that's not Top Gear or The Grand Tour

Jeremy Clarkson is moving on from The Grand Tour after confirming his latest appearance on our televisions as he returns for a new car show.

In recent years, the former Top Gear man has made a name for himself in the agricultural world since taking over the running of the £13 million rated Diddly Squat Farm, with the rest of the world watching on via Amazon Prime Video and its critically acclaimed documentary series, Clarkson's Farm.

Returning in May 2025 for series four, millions more are expected to tune in to the next instalment which is bound to focus on the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire presenter's venture to buy a pub close to his farm through which he could sell his produce.

But before then, Jezza is set to return to a focus of all things cars through an appearance in a new series of Car SOS.

And it's an appearance which will surprise viewers, according to its host Tim Shaw.

Speaking about the appearance, Shaw said industry people told him that the tractor driver was 'very unlikely to take part in the show'.

But low and behold, the motoring journalist will appear on the new season of the National Geographic car renovation show when it returns in just a few weeks time in what Shaw called 'one of the kindest gestures we’ve ever had from any celebrity'.

On the bid to get the 64-year-old involved in the new outing, Shaw said: “The general sentiment was, ‘good luck with that’. But I figured it was worth a shot. Even though it was a busy time for Jeremy on the farm, I reached out to his long-time assistant and explained the story behind the car.

“It was an all-or-nothing request, 'could we come to his home and reveal the car to its owner?’. To my surprise, she got back to me almost immediately after speaking with Jeremy – and the answer was yes. We were all totally stunned.

“But it didn’t stop there. Not only did he agree, but he was happy for us to bring a full coach load of people, literally the kind of coach you see barrelling down the motorway. We had the entire family there, and when you see the size of the group, you realise just how generous this offer was."

Shaw continued: “I mean, think about it, 60 strangers turning up at your property. The Car SOS team and I were even invited into his kitchen for a chat before the big reveal.

“We spent about half an hour with him, and he was warm, friendly, and, of course, typically sarcastic and funny.

"But what might surprise the Jeremy Clarkson sceptics is just how accommodating and kind he was. He genuinely cared about the wellbeing of both the team and, most importantly, the car’s owner.”

Car SOS will return to National Geographic on 13 March, with Clarkson's appearance taking place in episode five.

The focus of Clarkson's segment on the show will be an improved Land Rover Discovery Series 1 vehicle owned by the former Top Gear man.

Other celebrities in the new season include Mike Brewer and Johnny Vegas.
