Malcolm in the Middle reboot hints at iconic trio 'throuple' in surprising scene

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair brings back the iconic TV family in all their glory, with all of the siblings brought back along with Hal and Lois.

This even included the child that Hal and Lois discover they are having at the end of the show, Kelly, who is now Malcolm’s youngest sibling and is revealed to be non-binary.

Malcolm in the Middle was not solely made up of the family though, with the beloved TV series also bringing back some of the other side characters that made the show so beloved.

Amongst these is Stevie, Malcolm’s best friend from the original series, who is revealed to be gay and happily married with a son.

Stevie is one of the Krelboynes, a group of gifted students (with less than perfect social capabilities) who Malcolm is friends with.

Of the other Krelboynes there are three major characters who appear in the majority of the show: Dabney, Kevin, and Lloyd.

Of all the options for what the trio would be up to there are a huge host of possibilities for what the formerly geeky clique would now be doing, but very few fans could have predicted the real answer.

Malcolm runs into the Krelboynes at Lois and Hal’s engagement party and, despite trying to pretend he doesn’t know them, is dragged over by Malcolm’s girlfriend Tristan.

Dabney lets Malcom know they’ve missed their ‘fourth musketeer’ before revealing that the trio have ‘created a child’ together.

Their kid is called ‘Hubert’, and when asked whether they used a surrogate they simply respond ‘sure’.

One fan posted a picture of the Krelyboynes, with a viral quote tweet saying: “the top three being in a polycule is honestly the funniest bit of the revival.”

Another fan responded questioning whether the possible platonic throuple ‘are a polycule because they love each other’ or whether they’re too afraid to talk to other people, adding: “I need a special episode showing their dynamic because it must be chaos with a kid in the middle of it all.”

Whilst many fans on social media are split on if they are in a throuple together, the one thing that everyone appears to be in agreement on is that Hubert is a test tube made by the Krelyboynes trio.

They are revealed to be working for ‘GenetiTech Resources’, stating they are doing ‘so much weird sh*t’.

One fan said on Reddit: “I still have no idea what the deal with the Krelboynes is? Are they all gay and together? What's the deal with that kid? Is he some kind of a science project?”

Is Hubert a test tube baby? A clone? Some child they stole from a hospital? Who knows. (Disney+)

Whilst not everyone agreed, one popular comment said: “Their weird science sh*t involved mixing all their DNA to create a kid.”

Until we get a finalised answer of whether it’s a platonic throuple, a full on polycule, or an accidental throuple they’re unaware they are in with their test tube baby, it’s just good to see the iconic characters together on screen again.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair is available to stream on Disney+ now.
