Meghan Markle was forbidden from saying one specific word while she starred in Suits, according to the show's creator.

The American actor took on the role of Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama back in 2011 - way before she’d even met Prince Harry.

But by the time she filmed her final episode in 2017, and her last appearance aired on TV the year after, she was engaged to the royal.

The pair first met in the July of 2016, with their engagement made public not long after the seventh series of Suits had finished. And the creator has since revealed an insight into the impact Markle’s royal relationship had on the show.

Aaron Korsch felt just ‘as excited in some ways as everybody else’ when he found out the actor was dating a royal.

But while there apparently weren't ‘many things’ the British royal family got involved with, the pair’s relationship did unfortunately mean there were ‘a few things that [showrunners] wanted to do and couldn’t do’.

“It was a little irritating,” the creator admitted to The Hollywood Reporter.

Korsch went on to explain: "I mean, your initial reaction is, like, ‘We’re dating a prince!’

"But the security and all that stuff, we shot in Toronto and the writers room was in L.A., so other people were dealing with that.

"I will say, and I think Harry put this in the book [Spare], because I heard people talking about it - [the Royal Family] weighed in on some stuff."

According to the creator, the list of things the Suits team ‘couldn’t do’ included one specific word in the script for Rachel Zane.

"Look, I’ll just say what the line was. My wife’s family, when they have a topic to discuss that might be sensitive, they use the word ‘poppycock’,” Korsh said.

"Let’s say you wanted to do something that you knew your husband didn’t want to do, but you wanted to at least discuss it, and in just discussing it, you wouldn’t hold him to anything he said, you’d be like, ‘It’s poppycock’.

"So, in the episode, Mike and Rachel were going to have a thing, and as a nod to my in-laws, we were going to have her say, ‘My family would say poppycock’. And the Royal Family did not want her saying the word."

The creator believes the instruction came because the royals were worried about the clip being cut down to just ‘c*ck’.

Oh, but you might be surprised with what they were happy enough with it being changed to: ‘Bulls**t’.
