The Office fans furious after finding out new series will have 'the worst title ever'

The name for the new follow-up series of The Office US has been announced and fans are pretty furious.

Oh yeah, in case you hadn’t realised, there’s a new show coming that isn’t necessarily a ‘reboot’ but more of a spin-off.

Fans were previously left divided when the first actors were announced, including White Lotus actor Sabrina Impacciatore and Star Wars star Domhnall Gleeson.

The co-creator of the US version (let’s not even get into the UK vs US TV politics), Greg Daniels, has teamed up with Michael Koman for the new series.

And while it will feature a new office and new faces, it will be set in the same world as the iconic comedy series.

But no matter how much they might love the original, it seems not everyone is buzzing about the change as they call its reported name the ‘worst title ever’.

It looks like the new spin-off is titled The Paper and will follow the ‘Dunder Mifflin documentary crew as they focus on a dying historic Midwestern newspaper & its volunteer reporters’.

I mean, the name is pretty much in the same style as The Office, when you think about it.

But still, fans responded to the reveal on X to say: “Should’ve just kept the original name.”

Another added: “Honestly doesn’t really sound the same at all. At this point I feel like the are calling it a spinoff of The Office just to draw more people in.”

Although someone else wrote: “I don’t know about the title, but the show does sound interesting. They could be on to something.”

Despite being fans of the original, there are some who reckon this will be a ‘1 season and done type of show’ while one believes: “The Next Office would’ve been a better name.”

And another slammed: “That is the worst title ever.”

However, others did say: “The original is called The Office what’s your point?”

As plenty agreed: “Not really given the premise.”

Plus another asked: “And The Office is good why? It’s literally doing the same thing.”

Despite the reaction to the reported name, there’s plenty who say: “Low expectations, but I’ll be there.”

And many fans reckon it will be ‘hilarious’.

Previously speaking to The Wrap, Daniels explained how he didn’t want to do a ‘reboot’ of The Office.

"The notion of maybe something like the way The Mandalorian is a new show in the Star Wars universe, you know what I mean? Something like the notion of this documentary crew doing a documentary about a different subject," he said.

"That, I think, could be intriguing and creative. But I don’t even know what you would call that. I don’t know if that’s like a sister show or something. I don’t know what the term is. But it doesn’t feel like ‘reboot’ would be the appropriate term for that."
