Have you ever wondered what it's like when a dangerous magic trick goes horribly wrong?

Well, wonder no more because a breakfast TV show captured one taking a left turn live on air for a whole nation to see.

Polish morning show Pytanie na Śniadanie, known in English as Questions for Breakfast, has a similar format to ITV's This Morning, with many celebrity guests coming in to showcase their skills or give interviews.

It isn't known for its gory accidents though.

But in 2016 magician Marcin Poloniewicz appeared on the show and a clip of the episode has gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

The Poland's Got Talent semi-finalist presented his dangerous stunt, laying out four brown paper bags, with one containing a large sharp nail at the bottom.

Host Marzena Rogalska was the only one chosen to take part in the trick, bravely stepping up to offer her hand to be pushed against one of the bags that didn't have the nail in.

Unfortunately, Marcin got his bags all mixed up, leading to one of the most graphic TV blunders you'll ever see.

Claiming that he knew which bag had the nail in it, he slammed the host's hand into one of the bags and was... wrong.

After pushing her hand down on the table in full force, Marzena screamed in horror as she lifted it up to reveal that the nail had impaled her.

The presenter could be seen shaking in pain, moving her body back and forth while repeatedly screaming.

Marcin was also in shock, slowly processing what had happened as he looked down at the nail sticking out of her hand.

But on live TV, the magician thought it would be best to yank the nail back out, holding Marzena's hand in the sky.

Swearing, he added: "I pierced her. Really I pierced her."

Warning: This video contains scenes which some viewers may find distressing.

Marcin tried his best to help out, but Marzena ultimately had to be taken to hospital and received medical treatment for the injury.

The magician then began to get a lot of backlash from viewers online, leading to the Polish morning show presenter taking to Facebook to share that she was OK.

Marzena revealed that the trick went well in rehearsals and explained in a video with Marcin: "The internet has a lot of hate for this man.

"He didn't mean for this to happen."

Maybe magic isn't real, after all.
