The highly-anticipated spinoff for Suits has announced its lead actor.

Titled Suits: LA, the series is set to be spearheaded by a familiar face to many.

If you're up for a bit of nostalgia, watch the trailer for Suits season 8 below:

The spinoff to the critically acclaimed series has announced that Stephen Amell will play Ted Black, described by NBC as 'a charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs above others.'

Stephen Amell is best known for his time on CW series Arrow, based on DC comics character Green Arrow, where he plays the titular character.

Arrow ran from 2012-2020, spanning eight seasons, averaging high scores of 85% or higher on Rotten Tomatoes for seven of the eight seasons.

Playing Oliver Queen, a billionaire playboy turned vigilante known initially as 'Hood' and later 'Arrow', Amell largely received praise for his execution of the character throughout the series.

The 'Arrow' star is set to suit up as an LA lawyer in the Suits spinoff.

A Suits spinoff pilot was confirmed by NBC earlier this month, with the original series continuing to perform well on streaming platforms.

The legal drama was watched by viewers for a total of 57.7 billion minutes on Netflix in 2023, beating out The Office's old record of 57.1 billion minutes set in 2020, a figure boosted by the pandemic, no doubt.

The new programme will follow new character Ted Black, who is a former federal prosecutor who moves his powerful practice from New York to Los Angeles.

Hence the series name.

Black's firm is in crisis as he re-locates and has to take up a role he has despised his entire career in order to survive.

While this happens, events from previous years become revealed, offering an explanation as to why Ted left everything he knew and loved behind in New York.

In even more good news for Suits fans, creator Aaron Korsh is set to return to write the pilot episode with original producers Doug Liman, Dave Bartis and Gene Klein.

Leads of the original series, Harvey Specter and Michael Ross were played by Gabriel Macht and Patrick J.Adams, respectively.

Beatrice Springborn, president of Universal International Studios and UCP, stated that the spinoff will be part of the same universe as the original, featuring 'the same energy and good looking people that the original did.'

“It is amazing looking people in great clothes but at the core of it you can’t have a show that’s successful with just that,” Springborn said last November.

“It has to have great storytelling and great character work. So how do you do something that can be ongoing, have a gloss to it and be a continuing series that everyone wants?”
