The Stone Roses? The Courteeners? Joy Division? Would any of these bands have been suited to Liam Gallagher, in a parallel universe where the Burnage-born singer hadn't gone on to front Oasis alongside his brother Noel?
No, it turns out. In fact, when asked which other band he'd like to have joined, the 44-year-old didn't even choose another Mancunian band. His answer was a London band from the late 1970s - although their legacy is at least as significant as Oasis'.
In an interview with The Observer, the younger Gallagher brother said he 'would have loved' to have been part of the Sex Pistols.
Going through the punk firebrands' classic lineup in true Liam Gallagher style, he said: "I'd have kicked out Johnny Rotten - he'd have gone. Get out, Gooner. Paul Cook's fucking mega. Steve Jones is the man. Sid Vicious, turn his bass down but he still fucking killed.
"But Rotten would have gone, I'm sorry. I can do Johnny Rotten in my sleep."

Liam appeared on stage towards the end of Ariana Grande's One Love Manchester benefit concert on Sunday night, organised as a tribute to the 22 victims and thousands affected at the Manchester Arena attack last month.
He performed Rock 'n' Roll Star, Wall Of Glass and Live Forever on stage in front of over 50,000 fans at Emirates Old Trafford.

Brother Noel did not turn up, choosing to remain on a family holiday in Italy - and Liam was sure to call him up on it.
Elsewhere in the interview, Liam was questioned about a rumoured sleeve design for his forthcoming solo album. The cover, which only featured his name, was rubbished by the Mancunian singer.
"If I'm doing a solo record, which I am doing, these chops will be on it," he responded. "As my mam said, 'if you've got it, flaunt it', so it must have been some idiot bored."
He was then shown a picture of him as a woman, by which he was suitably impressed. He complemented: "Look at that, tasty. I'm happy with that. I look fucking well fit. Proper cool."
The Manchester City supporter was also asked if he'd like to see Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the Etihad.
"Nah, not having him," he said. "He looks like that big fucking cartoon. Remember that fucking rooster?"
Maybe he's referring to Foghorn Leghorn from Looney Tunes?
