Liam Gallagher Has Responded To Fans 'Discovering' His Real Name

Over the weekend, the story that Liam Gallagher's full name is actually William, as in Wil(Liam), hit the mainstream.

It took a while but I think we've all come to terms with it now. Some people change their names, that's showbiz, etc. If we can all get over the fact that Bruno Mars is actually called Peter, I think we can handle this.

However, now Liam himself has finally got wind of people's shock, and has come back with a suitably Liam response:

Well, he's not wrong, it was.

Not everyone was completely surprised to learn that Liam's real name was an abbreviation of William. Apparently, it's fairly common in Ireland for the name to be shortened that way.

And given that his folks are Irish it makes sense that William John Paul Gallagher became Liam.

The singer actually referenced his full name on Twitter just yesterday, posting a message which read: "WILLIAM JOHN PAUL GALLAGHER 21.9.72 SON OF MARGARET TONIGHT JOOLS HOLLAND AS YOU WERE X"

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Noel is actually called Noel. As you were.

This isn't the first time Liam, or Billy as I now call him, has responded to shocked fans on Twitter.

When fans complained about the fact that tickets for his upcoming UK tour were in the hands of touts and costing a small fortune, he replied in ALL CAPS, which, as we all know, means business.

After being bombarded with tweets from angry fans, Liam posted to tell fans to 'COOL IT' before adding that he and his team were sorting it.

He's actually a contender for my favourite celebrity account (Sorry, James Blunt) but it's the perfect combination of CAPS LOCK, inspirational quotes such as: 'Mans not hot... the ting goes pa pa pa as you were LG x', updates on his showbiz lifestyle, like: "Rite to the c*nt who robbed my shades backstage at reading I hope you die you c*nt I guess it's karma for stealing the show as you were LG x" and, of course, plenty of beef with his brother:

And he puts kisses at the end of his posts. What more can you ask from a celebrity Twitter account?

As you were.
