These things are just getting better and better, aren't they?

So, the bottle cap challenge has really taken off now - so much so that people are beginning to divert from the original methodology and mix it up a bit.

This professional wakeboarder decided to take things to the next level by performing a 360 trick to flick the cap off. It's only a little bit impressive.

When Steel Lafferty from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, decided to take on the new viral craze he didn't want to abide by the bog-standard rules and instead decided to use his unique skills to take it on.

In the video, filmed on July 3, Steel sets himself while holding onto the handle attached to the speed boat. He then catches a wave and leaps up, executing an impressive 360 spin, clipping the bottle deliberately and pinging the cap off.

The pair out on the water cheer ecstatically and go back to retrieve the cap in the water.

He can see the target.

Steel said: "I knew I could do it a really cool and different way. The difficulties were timing of the 360 to hit the cap perfectly, filming from the correct angle, making sure I didn't whack my buddy Cody instead of the bottle and then going back and picking up the cap!

"I couldn't believe we actually did it, I thought there was a chance I could make it work but it was super difficult to connect perfectly.

"The reaction has been unreal, so many shares, likes and comments. I'm just having fun, and I'm glad people liked the video."

And off it comes...

The craze began after UFC fighter Max Holloway accepted the challenge from Errolson Hugh. Holloway passed the baton on to John Mayor who, in turn, tagged Jason Statham.

When Statham took it on he wrote to his 20.7 million followers: "#bottlecapchallenge #challengeaccepted @erlsn.acr This thing landed on my head from @johnmayer but will quickly go to a couple of fellas we've seen do push ups badly. All yours @guyritchie and @jmoontasri."

Ellie Goulding also joined in and became the newest member of the bottle cap successors group after fearing that too many men had completed the challenge.

The 32-year-old posted the short video on to her Instagram alongside the caption: "This challenge is way too much of a [sausage] fest for my liking." She went on to nominate the likes of Stella McCartney and Cara Delevingne to join the club.

She also used the Instagram post to highlight the lack of her use of plastic, writing: "STOP USING PLASTIC BOTTLES SUCKERS," which could be seen as both a dig at the men's capabilities and also a declaration of her environmental stance.
