Ferrell was born in 1967 in Irvine, California and grew up in his suburban house with his parents and younger brother. Ferrell’s acting career began after he graduated from the University of Southern California in 1990 with a BA in sports information. In this period of his life, Ferrell first started appearing in movies, most notably taking on roles in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) and Zoolander (2001). His first central role in a film after leaving SNL came when he starred in the 2003 film Old School, where his performance as Frank earned him an MTV award for the Best Comedic Performance.
