The latest MrBeast challenge saw a man forced to spend 30 days living alongside his ex-girlfriends in exchange for a shot at winning $250,000 – and it was brutal.

For anyone who's not familiar, MrBeast - real name James Donaldson - has leveraged his position as one of the most subscribed to YouTubers in order to create an extreme series of challenges.

The videos all follow a similar format, with people being asked to survive 30 days in an extreme environment, such as being chained to your ex-partner or suspended on a platform in the sky, in exchange for the opportunity to win a boatload of cash.

Basically your typical game show format, just repackaged for YouTube.

In his most recent edition of the series, MrBeast welcomed Grant and Ashley, contestants from season one of Temptation Island US, with under the guise that they would be spending the month alone in the wilderness together

The former couple's relationship ended on bad terms when Grant cheated on Ashley during the Netflix series, which means they were never going to be happy campers together.

To make things worse, four more of Grant's ex-girlfriends were also invited to participate in the challenge – a situation which honestly sounds like a nightmare for everyone involved.

The premise of the challenge was simple, whoever remained in the camp after 30 days got a share of the $250,000 (£186,000) prize pot.

What happens on MrBeast's five ex-girlfriend survival challenge?

Like any other game show, the challenge turned out to be a little more complicated, with Grant given the ability to vote off an ex-girlfriend every five days.

This meant a partner could spend anywhere between five and 25 days in the game and leave without a single penny.

The twist certainly led to some brutal moments in the game, with Grant deciding to smash the heart of one ex after hearing her response - 'Being rewarded for being a cheater, isn't that nice' - to the twist.

Ouch.

However it would be the exes who were able to get the last laugh, with another twist seeing the last woman standing would have the opportunity to steal the whole prize, now upped to $300,000, for herself.

Which is exactly what happened after Grant chose former partner Abi over Ashley on day 25.

"I don't have any ill will towards you," Abi told Grant, before revealing that his decision to have her swear allegiance via the Bible left her uncomfortable.

"It's one thing when a person volunteers to swear on the Bible and another when you impose that on them," she added. "I felt like that was a manipulation tactic."

Declaring that her allegiance was with Ashley and the other ex-girlfriends, Abi decided to 'put herself first' and smash Grant's heart, allowing her to bag the entire prize.

"It's not fun going home now with nothing," he said afterward. "But it is what it is.

"I played, I lost."
