What's included in my free luggage allowance and how can I avoid extra fees?
What used to be a freebie is now more often than not, a hidden charge. Budget airlines like Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air now charge up to £60 just to pop a small suitcase in the overhead locker on board.
So if you want to dodge those extra fees, it’s worth getting a proper under-seat bag (each airline’s rules are slightly different, scroll down for the full lowdown.
Luckily, loads of brands now sell compact cases made to fit right under the seat - so you’re not stuck with a tiny rucksack or laptop bag.
