Woman outraged after paying for hotel room with sea view and finding out she's been scammed

Clarisa Murgia couldn't believe what was actually going on outside of her window

Starting off the morning by watching the waves from the comfort of your bed is quite magical when you're on holiday, which is why a lot of people don't mind splashing some extra cash on a room with a sea view.

Sharing an Instagram story saying you've 'had worse Mondays' while showing off a video of a load of scaffolding outside your window just doesn't really have the same effect, does it?

Nine times out of ten, you will have better natural lighting, be greeted by a cooling sea breeze when you open the balcony door as well as simply enjoying the stunning outlook you have of the ocean.

That's why Clarisa Murgia opted for a pricier room while heading to an idyllic 'seaside' hotel in Italy.

After seeing the spectacular coastal views it had to offer, the influencer was sold on the room and paid extra to secure it.

In particular, Clarisa had been bowled over by an advert which promised the 'holiday of a lifetime' across Europe, so she had pretty high expectations.

So you can imagine how stunned she was when she discovered that the hotel she was staying at had slightly bent the truth about the stunning scenes she would be able to soak up from her balcony.

Sharing a TikTok video entitled 'Expectation vs Reality' showing off her view, Clarisa wrote: "I feel scammed, guys."

Take a look here:

As you can see, the bed and breakfast didn't exactly tell any fibs - but it's certainly a stretch to dub that a sea view room.

You see, the 'sea view' is actually just an image of one which has been stuck on the grubby-looking wall facing Clarisa's balcony, which creates something of an optical illusion when stood at a certain angle.

Initially, it looks like a cracking view of the ocean - but your suspicions would probably start to raise when you clock onto the fact that the small sailboat hasn't moved an inch after an hour, or if you just shuffled a bit closer to the window.

Although she somewhat saw the funny side of it, Clarisa obviously wasn't best pleased when she realised she had been duped after checking into the accommodation.

"No one has ever deceived me like this before," she said.

Despite the fact they shared the same sentiment as the holidaymaker and admitted they would be furious, social media users couldn't help but laugh at the situation.

One person commented on the viral clip: "I'm sorry but this is hilarious."

A second laughed: "Genius!"

Others admitted they had initially thought it was a sea view too, with one writing: "I believed it at first!"

A fourth added: "I believed it so much that I even asked myself why she felt cheated."

Another joked that the hotel was technically 'not lying' as Clarisa did get an 'ocean view' - just a sh*t one.

While a sixth said: "My luck in life is summarised in this video."

Well, at least the content creator can now sleep soundly knowing that most of us lot fell for it too - although she won't get a tap of natural light in that room.
