There's nothing quite as awkward as waiting for somebody to make the first move on a date, is there?

You could have had a lovely dinner yet you'd still be wracked with uncertainty.

Maybe you want them to kiss you, but you don't know how to let them know you're game for a bit of smooching?

Well, the 'triangle method' may be the thing for you.

Never heard of it?

Well, here's a quick explanation of the love trick that has captivated TikTok.

The triangle method is touted as helping people get their crushes.

To successfully nail the triangle method, simply trace the shape of an upside triangle with your eyes onto the person's face.

As you face your date, look at one of their eyes, look quickly down at their mouth, then back up to their other eye to form a triangle.

It's really that easy - supposedly.

Many TikTokers have claimed that this is a fool proof way of getting your crush to fall madly in love with you.

Not only does it signal that you're in a mood for a peck on the lips, but it apparently also has your crush feeling a certain kind of way.

According to Patti Wood, body language expert and author of SNAP: Making the Most Of First Impressions, Body Language, and Charisma, this is just one of many verbal cues in the dating world.

She refers to the eyes and mouth as part of the 'golden triangle' alongside the forehead.

Essentially, if you and your date aren't spending much time looking at each other in this region of the face, there probably isn't much of a spark there.

Admittedly, common sense would also indicate that avoiding eye contact isn't a sign that your date is going well.

Lingering eye contact has been shown to be super arousing after all.

One 2019 study published in Frontiers in Psychology, found that this went both ways, as people make and receive it as a form of communication.

The logic behind why the triangle method is so effective is that people can feel your eye contact on them and when they notice it on their mouth, they get the message pretty clearly.

Now that you know this method exists, it could change your entire dating game.

That or it could be somebody trying to suss if you have a cold sore coming in.

Or if you're in need of lip balm.

Or if you have some dinner left over around your mouth.
