Uber has published its 2026 Lost & Found index – and I have some serious questions about what you lot are deciding to bring along in a taxi.

It's not uncommon to get out of an Uber and frantically pat down your pockets to make sure you've not left anything behind.

For most of us, this is nothing more than an intrusive thought, as our house keys, phones, shopping and other items have made it out of the vehicle and into our homes.

But for those of us who have been unlucky enough to leave something behind in an Uber, the company has a 'Find lost item' service, which means you can report your missing items and have them brought safely back to you. Phew.

Uber also keeps track of the items which go missing in its vehicles, which is collated into a list and published annually.

What are the most unique items to be forgotten in an Uber?

To no one's surprise, items such as phones, house keys, wallets and headphones rank highly on the list of 'most forgotten' items, but there's also a list of 'most unique lost items' which makes for much more interesting reading.

Coming in at number one on the 'most unique items' list is a pair of dentures, complete with just two teeth. Let's just hope they were fake teeth and hadn't fallen out of the owner's mouth.

Next up is a bottle of breast milk, followed by human hair - it's not specified if this hair is the clump found in your hairbrush or a set of extensions - and Donny Osmond group picture.

Rounding out the top five is an ankle monitor, which I'm sure was a very fun explanation for the owner to have with their parole officer.

Head further down the list and you'll find that the items don't get any less strange, as one person forgot their cape with the Statue of Liberty on it while another walked out of the car wearing only one Louboutin heel.

There are also several items such as live fish, a double-door oven and a dishwasher, which leave you asking, 'how is that even possible to forget?'

Seriously, how does one get out of a taxi and forget to grab the dishwasher bulging out of the boot or the toboggan they'd strapped in next to them?

And I can only wonder how bad of a night's sleep the person who left behind their leep apnea machine had...
