Given that the price of almost everything seems to be rising, it’s important to make the most of our money when we do spend it.

And if you typically spend cash or on your debit card, you could be missing out on some decent perks that you can only get by using a credit card.

There's one card in particular that's growing in popularity, allowing you to earn points to spend on everything from flights and hotels to restaurant and bar credit, and even Monica Vinader jewellery or Freddie’s Flowers deliveries.

Yonder

Why get a credit card?

Not only can a credit card help you earn rewards but you'll be able to build your credit score too, which can come in handy if you will be buying something expensive, like a new car, or looking for best the mortgage rates.

Now, we know that credit cards might not always be the best choice for everyone, but as long as you use it responsibly and pay it off in full at the end of each month, making the switch to spending on your credit card could be a game changer for your finances.

So how does it work and what do you need to know? Keep reading to find out.

What makes Yonder different?

Accepted almost everywhere as a Mastercard, the Yonder credit card is gaining popularity here in the UK.

But one of the biggest differences between it and others is that it allows users to earn rewards while spending their own cash.

You might be asking yourself, well isn’t it always my cash? Well, normally a credit card has a fixed limit and once you’ve spent this on the credit card you then pay it off using your money.

But Yonder allows you to add up to £10,000 of your own money to your account so that you can make the most of every penny and pound that you spend.

Since you typically won’t be getting anything from using a debit card, this is where it gets interesting.

What are the perks of earning points with Yonder?

You can always withdraw the money as and when you need it, but spending it via this credit card allows you to enjoy the benefits of earning points on all purchases, that can then be spent on dining, entertainment, lifestyle, fitness and travel rewards that refresh each month.

From rewards at dining and drinking hotspots in the likes of London, Manchester, Bristol, Bath and Birmingham, to Turo car hire, Airalo e-sims, flights with any airline and thousands of hotels across the world, alongside Monica Vinader jewellery, Frive meal deliveries, Freddie's Flowers, booze deliveries and Surreal protein cereal, you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to what to redeem them on.

Plus, you can earn points at home and abroad and they never expire. Simply use them with a swipe in the app – there’s no need to download a voucher or code to do so.

You also won’t pay any FX fees abroad when travelling and get purchase protection when buying with a credit card, which you don’t with a debit card. This means if something you buy doesn’t arrive with you or a flight or gig is cancelled, Yonder will do the work for you to get your money back.

You’ll also be building good credit every time you use and pay off your credit card, too.

What else do I need to know?

There are two memberships to choose from – the full membership which has a range of different perks including worldwide travel insurance and 5 points per £1 spent, for £15 a month (or £160 a year if paid annually) – or the free membership, which allows you to earn one point per £1 spent.

And right now, Yonder is offering new members one month free of its full membership, plus 10,000 points – which is worth up to £50 on a Yonder experience.

Approval is subject to eligibility. Over 18 & UK residents only. Membership fee applies. Borrow responsibly. T&Cs and APR rates apply.
