Couple Who Won $528million On Lottery Still Live Life As Before

Couple Who Won $528million On Lottery Still Live Life As Before

That money would be burning a hole in my pocket.

We've probably all got a fair idea of what we'd do if we won the lottery. Holidays, mansion, rocket car, etc. Usually, people claim it won't change them, safe in the knowledge they'll probably never win so will never be tested.

Occasionally, someone will win it and pop up on telly, vowing to carry on working as a dinner lady and taking the same holidays to a caravan park in Rhyl. It always raises the question, 'why on earth did you even put the lottery on?'.

If it's really going to make so little difference to your life, why bother putting it on?

One such couple are David Kaltschmidt and Maureen Smith from Florida.

They won an eye-watering $528million (£408m) before tax on the Powerball, the biggest Powerball jackpot in history, but have they let it change them? Nah.

The couple appear to be perfectly content living in their old $300,000 (£231,875) home, they still eat at the same restaurants and shop at the same places they always did.

One thing the lucky couple did splash out on was a replacement for their gold-coloured SUV. They chose to upgrade to a near identical gold-coloured SUV, the Mailonline reports.

Each to their own, I guess.

Speaking to the news outlet, a friend close to the couple said: "They have hundreds of millions burning a hole in their pocket but it's almost as if nothing has changed. They are as conservative as ever." The friend even said that Maureen still picks up a Powerball ticket from the same shop from which she bought the winner.

When a reporter from the Mail asked Maureen what she had been splashing her new-found cash on, she replied: "Oh nothing exciting." She added that she had been 'taking care of family'.

According to the Mailonline, the one 'extravagance' the couple have forked out for is a gold-coloured (are you seeing a theme here?) $90,000 (£69,550) Tesla for Maureen.
