Adele visited Grenfell Tower yesterday evening, just hours after a fire tore through the building and killed and injured dozens of residents.

The singer made an appearance at the vigil which was held to remember those lost in the fire and to support the survivors.

A number of people snapped the Tottenham-born star and shared the images on Twitter. Fans were quick to praise the star, who was reported to be comforting people at the vigil. Twitter user @FourMee wrote 'Respect to you', alongside a photo of Adele.

A fund has been set up to help those affected by the devastating fire and has so far raised over ยฃ294,000.

A number of celebrities offered their support, including Jamie Oliver, who offered victims free food and shelter in his restaurant in Westfield, and Lily Allen, who tweeted to let survivors know 'tea and shelter' was available from her.

Elsewhere, donations have poured in from across the UK. Paula Lewis, a nurse, told the Guardian she rushed out to Tesco to pick up as many supplies as she could for those who had lost everything in the fire. Since then she's seen her donations added to by hundreds more.

She said: "The response has been amazing. There was nothing here at 9.30am. But, all day, it's been non-stop: bedding, clothes, food. Human beings have just come together. It doesn't matter what race, religion you are.

"We're splitting essentials into bags and then volunteers are going to drive to try and give them to the people who need them.

"The community response has just been amazing. But it is chaos. No one really knows what they are doing."

Twelve people died in the fire, but police have said they expect this number to rise. Dozens more were rushed into hospital. Over 200 firefighters fought tirelessly to tackle the massive blaze yesterday.
