Last year Hollywood power-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced their split. With six children between them, not to mention millions of dollars, it was never going to be an easy break up.

Now, the ongoing custody battle for the couple's kids has taken a slightly brutal turn, with Angelina claiming that Brad is 'publically impugning' her character. The new court documents also claim that he is 'terrified the public will learn the truth'.

However, Brad seems to be putting a brave face on things. He made a surprise appearance at the Golden Globes last night and got a huge round of applause to boot. Talk about smashing it.

Fifty-three-year-old Brad is said to have requested that all records relating to the kids be sealed, for the sake of their privacy. And, while Angelina agreed with the idea she has since accused him of using the court filing to take attention away from his 'own role in the media storm that engulfed' their family, the Daily Mail reports.

Angelina's attorney, Laura Wasser, filed paper which stated: "There is no question that this case has been of extraordinary interest to the public since its inception.

"And there is little doubt that (Pitt) would prefer to keep the entire case private, particularly given the detailed investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Children and Family Services into allegations of abuse.

"Her conduct in this case has been grossly mischaracterised by (Pitt). Likely terrified that the public will learn the truth, (Pitt) is now casting blame at (Jolie) for the consequences of his own actions."

The papers then go on to claim that Brad hasn't kept to the couple's agreement regarding him only having weekly therapeutic visits with the kids: Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Angelina's legal team believe that the numerous court filings by Brad's legal team could have been avoided and a 'desperate effort to obscure the truth which threatens his reputation.'
