As if 2020 wasn't enough of a battle, a zombie apocalypse could be coming in 2021 - but don't worry, because one place in particular has you covered.

That crazy 15th century prophet Nostradamus apparently has one of his hair-brained predictions up for validation soon, with the relentlessly miserable doomsayer saying back in the day that we would definitely be on for a zombie apocalypse in 2021. Don't worry, he's normally wrong.

But what if he was right?

Well, over in the US, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have been offering out of advice of how we can survive it - which is good to know, because even if we don't have a zombie apocalypse this year, the rise of shows like The Walking Dead has led people to become somewhat curious as to how they would handle such a situation.

The CDC decided to create a Zombie Preparedness page where people can go for answers - just in case the undead actually do start to walk among us.

"As it turns out, what first began as a tongue-in-cheek campaign to engage new audiences with preparedness messages has proven to be a very effective platform," reads the guidance.

"We continue to reach and engage a wide variety of audiences on all hazards preparedness via 'zombie preparedness'."

The page was actually made back in 2011, but the re-emergence of Nostradamus' prophecy has seen people flocking to the site recently for reassurance.

The guidance isn't just to deal with zombies, it covers a range of natural disasters as well - you know, like a pandemic or something.

"Bottled water, flour, disinfectant spray, toilet paper... A year ago, it didn't matter how much money you had. You couldn't get your hands on certain things," John Sellick, a professor in the Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, said to Yahoo Life as he reflected on the outbreak of Covid-19.

"Having a stockpile at home could have helped carry some of us through. Clearly, most of us did not have adequate supplies of things."

So, what do you need to survive the zombie apocalypse?

The CDC recommends gathering together an emergency kit, including water - a gallon per person - non-perishable food, prescription and non-prescription medication, and tools and supplies.

It also suggests that you should make sure you have hygiene and sanitation supplies, a change of clothes, bedding and first aid - plus any important documentation such as passports or driving licenses.

Finally, the CDC recommends developing an emergency plan with your family so you know what to do if a disaster occurs.

This includes naming a location where you should all meet, as well as a list of emergency contacts and an evacuation route.

In the meantime, let's just hope Nostradamus is proven wrong again.
