On the 2nd May, 2011, the world's most wanted man Osama Bin Laden was shot dead by US Navy SEALs in Pakistan.

It was the day America and its allies had been waiting for since 9/11, a memory etched into the minds of every civilised human being on the planet.

The operation, codenamed Operation Neptune Spear, was carried out by the Central Intelligence Agency and launched from Afghanistan with the help of US Army Operations Command's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.

Believe it or not, it's been five years since Bin Laden was killed. And to mark the occasion, the CIA have been live tweeting the operation as though it was happening right now.

It makes for equally compelling reading today as it did five years ago...

A historic day and an event that will be told and talked about for generations to come.
