A millionaire's legal team have released new footage showing his former fiancée appearing to attack herself in a violent rage.

In a court case against his ex-girlfriend, Scott Mitchell, 45, who was previously accused by his ex to have physically and psychologically abused her, has fought against the claims.

Mary Hunt, 29, formerly told reporters that she suffered from a black eye at the hands of her ex, the Mirror reports.

She claimed that he made her a "prisoner of my own mind."

Mitchell's legal team have since published the security footage from inside the couple's Tampa Bay home, appearing to show Hunt having a meltdown and attacking herself.

She is seen sitting on the bed screaming, fists clenched, before striking herself in the face and head several times.

Mitchell's attorney, Todd Foster, said that the footage was proof that his client did not strike his ex-girlfriend.

"The explanation for the black eye is now very different," said Foster. "There is no evidence that he ever beat her. This video now demonstrates that she is striking herself in the same area of the face and head that they allege Scott struck her."

Mitchell is chief executive of Simply Organic Beauty, which makes naturally sourced salon and beauty products.

He is suing Hunt, and her parents, claiming that she stole more than $2 million worth of jewellery after the relationship ended.

She was charged with grand theft in October 2015.

Despite a trial date having yet to be set, video evidence from both sides of the court case is expected to feature heavily.

Hunt's legal team have also released private security footage showing Mitchell having an angry meltdown on his driveway in an attempt to prove his fiery personality.
