Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington bought a $2.5million (£1.9million) house for his family just two months before his tragic death, it's been revealed.

According to TMZ, the singer bought the five-bedroom house in the Palos Verdes Estates, in Los Angeles in May this year, just eight days after Bennington's friend Chris Cornell had taken his life.

Bennington's body was found in the home by his housekeeper on July 20. His death was ruled as a suicide by hanging on Monday by the LA County Coroners Officers.

A spokesperson from the coroner's office said no drugs or note were found near the body, but a half-full bottle of alcohol was in the room.

He had previously been open about battling his demons and his struggles with alcohol addiction, having previously spent time in rehab.

In 2011 he said: "I don't drink. I choose to be sober now. I have drunk over the last six years, but I just don't want to be that person anymore."

Bennington was survived by his six children and wife Talinda.

Following his death, his former bandmates have set up a website directing fans to organisations that can help, if they needed it, as well as collecting memories and tributes to the singer.
