Parents Who Asked Donations For Their Terminally Ill Son To Stop Were Given False Information

This is awful.

Yesterday the heart-breaking story of Josh McCormick, who is currently fighting a life threatening illness, spread across the internet.

Josh's mum, Nicola, was heartbroken at the revelation that, in the midst of fundraising money for her son's treatment, she was told that he a had zero percent chance of survival.

Now, however, due to a mix up, Josh's mother has found out that she was given incorrect information, and that there could be up to a 10 percent chance of survival for the five-year-old fighter.

Last October, Josh was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. After having the tumour removed and undergoing chemotherapy, which left him seriously ill, his only option was to have immunotherapy trials in America.

His parents began a GoFundMe page to help send their son to Florida, but recently asked people to stop donating due to the zero percent chance of survival.

According to Nicola McCormick, who updated the Facebook page set up for Josh, Josh's oncologist at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital reportedly didn't send the five-year-old's medical notes to Florida, where the treatment would take place.

"So out of desperation I phoned Florida yesterday evening as joshua has a 0% chance of survival if we stay here in the UK," Nicola said in the post. "Although the oncologist at RMCH told us that he had sent Joshua's notes over to Florida and that it's a phase one trail, it's actually a phase two trial and they have not received his notes.

"Joshua is dying but if Florida even give us a 10% chance of survival we have to take it, even if we come back without him - we have to try."

Thanks to what can only be described as a monumental cock-up, a week which could have been spent helping Josh recover, and a week which saw the end of his donations, could have been spent putting him on the right path.

Nicola also posted the email she'd received from Florida, where she is hopeful Josh will get his treatment.

Now, donations for Josh have rightly restarted.

Let's hope he gets the treatment he deserves and pulls through, you can donate here.
