Pornstar Is Campaigning Against A Proposed Law Regarding Condoms

Proposition 60 calls for the use of condoms in adult films.

When it comes to porn, condoms aren't necessarily things that tend to go with it. Whether adult stars are thought of as kings of the pull out method, or use other orifices to leave a deposit, safe sex is last on our minds when watching films of the adult variety.

Despite the lack of custard catchers in X-rated movies, a bill has been proposed in California which calls for the use of condoms in every porn film.

The bill is called Proposition 60, but isn't something adult actors are necessarily in favour of, with Tasha Reign, queen of the laptop screens, urging people not to sign it.

Real name Rachel Swimmer, Tasha has been touring universities in California, where presumably her art form gets a lot of viewing time, asking students to vote against it. If the bill is passed, it will mean that all porn sets in Cali will be forced to film only safe-sex, and would require film makers to have licenses.

"I've only had positive feedback from students," Tasha told the Daily Star. "It seems to me whether someone is old or young, they empathise with me. It doesn't matter about their age.

"If they hear why I don't want Prop 60 to pass and what I am for and what I'm against because of my experience, people are pretty open."

The proposed law comes at a time where adult films are increasingly under more pressure for their lack of reality rubbing off on teens. It's thought that safe-sex on film will help to give a more accurate representation of sex, and not cloud reality. I think it's alright as it is to be honest, because if we all thought what happened in pornos was the normal thing to do, we'd all be sleeping with our step-mums, and that only happens in Birmingham.

Tasha, 27, is worried that the introduction of condoms into the porn industry will slow things down and make things impractical, as well as be dangerous. Calling upon her experience, she claims that when working on films for hours on end, the latex has an effect on the skin, causing irritation and heightening the risk of transferring an STD.

"People just haven't heard information from the source so if somebody hears it from first-hand, and listen to experiences or reasons why it affects someone then people tend to pay attention," the Buttsex Nymphos 2 star said.

The 27-year-old is mostly angry at the fact that the public have the ability to vote on what happens in her profession, while Michael Weinstein, the creator of the bill, thinks that it's her duty to educate as well as entertain.

"It's not the job of adult entertainers to teach children about safe sex," she said. "Now that's a country issue, if America doesn't have a proper sex education system that's really upsetting and really sad and needs to be dealt with by its citizens. It's something our tax dollars should pay for."

There's a worry that if the bill is passed in California, that it will spread, thus making filming a lot different for stars like Tasha and 'criminalising' it.

Californians will vote either for or against Proposition 60 on November 8, the same day at the US elections.
