The 29-year-old inmate managed to swallow a mobile phone whole, and had to be taken to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin after he began to vomit.
The case was reported by the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports, and admits that the reasons for the phone being swallowed are unclear.
