The trailer for the final season of Ricky Gervais' After Life has dropped. Watch below:

Season three of the hit series is looking to be a banger and fans of the show will be buzzing to find out how Tony's (Ricky Gervais) grieving process over the loss of his wife and dad is going.

The Netflix synopsis reads: "It's the final season of After Life and Tony is still desperately mourning the loss of his wife, Lisa.

"Will he ever truly embrace the future if he can't let go of the past?"

Those who have watched the show, which is an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least, will be aware of the relationship that Tony has with his dog.

Without the pet by his side, it looks like the character would never had made it to the last season.

Netflix

Netflix tweeted confirmation many will be glad to hear: "Remember, the dog does not die.

"We promise."

One exited fan wrote: "I love this show so much. It is very emotional.

"I can’t wait to watch it and cry my eyes out. It is funny and beautiful, one of the most clever shows of all time, one of my favourites of all time, I wish it never had to end."

Another added: "Great… cried at the trailer!

"I’ll be dehydrated by the end of the series."

A third tweeted: "Can honestly say one of the best programs ever on tv, funny, sad, heartwarming."

Someone else commented: "crying at the trailer ffs!"

A final user concluded: "I’m so looking forward to crying again."

Netflix

In July 2020, Gervais said he wasn't sure if he and Emma's relationship would end happily ever after, explaining how his character is "sort of addicted to grief... because he knows where he is with it, because hope lets him down too much."

In the meantime, Mandeep Dhillon, who plays Sandy, hopes to see her character get some wins in the third season after struggling with some family issues of her own in season two.

You'll be able to watch the new season on Netflix from January 14.
