So, here's a public service announcement. Don't go messing around with wild animals. Especially ones that are capable of tearing you to shreds in an instant.
Largely, that includes lions. You definitely shouldn't be reaching out of the windows of a vehicle to stroke a lion. In fact, you deserve everything that is coming to you if you think that is a good idea.
Despite that seeming like the most obvious thing in the world, video footage has emerged that shows someone doing exactly that - winding down the window of a car to try to stroke a bloody lion. What a moron.
Needless to say, the lion was not impressed by this. It roared and bared it's fangs at the person, who was implored to shut the window quickly. As if a window is likely to stop a lion if it's taken a notion to get into the car.
If it wants in, it's coming in. There ain't a lot you can do about it.
Luckily for the passengers, it didn't go much further than that. It's still one of the dumbest things you'll see today, mind.
The rangers in the park in South Africa weren't best pleased either. Naas Smit said: "Only those who work in the wild know the speed of a lion and it could have torn the arm off the person touching it.
"It would have the power to pull that tourist straight out of that window and kill them instantly in front of their friends. It was an incredibly stupid thing to do.
"It could also just have easily crashed its way through the open window and torn into those inside. They were lucky to get away with it. They are wild animals.
"If the lion had killed this person then game rangers would probably have had to have killed it and if it was the pride male it could have serious consequences.
"I just have to shake my head when I see people behaving like this and they deserve all they get"
Bloody hell, it would be awful if the lion had to die because of some idiot trying to stroke it.
Only recently a man as mauled by a lion at his own safari park. Mike Hodge entered the lion's enclosure - not a particularly advisable move - and was then attacked. He suffered from lacerations and a broken jaw after the incident. He's lucky to be alive.
Don't mess with lions, guys. It's that simple.
