Presenters Ant and Dec have pulled out of the National Television Awards and a Britain's Got Talent special after falling ill.

The iconic presenting duo were also forced to step down from presenting the two-hour special show, Britain's Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician, as a result of their illness.

A spokesperson for Britain's Got Talent told the Mail Online: "Ant and Dec are both unwell and have postponed all work commitments until they recover.

"Sadly, this means they were unable to film Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician."

Details of Ant and Dec's illness have not been publicly released, however, the spokesperson wished them a 'speedy recovery'.

Stephen Mulhern - 'BGT's favourite magician' - is set to step in to present Britain's Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician instead.

As well as being a magician, Mulhern is also a television presenter, having first started his career on CITV.

Mulhern has presented for BGT before on its sister show, Britain's Got More Talent, which airs behind-the-scenes footage from the programme.

Britain's Got Talent confirmed the spin-off show in a post to Twitter on 10 October, 2022.

As well as Ant and Dec, head judge Simon Cowell will also be missing from Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician, due to other filming commitments in the US.

According to those who were at the the filming of Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician yesterday, 11 October, Mulhern told the audience Ant and Dec were 'gutted' not to be there.

While Ant and Dec won't be present at the 27th National Television Awards, members of the public can still vote for the iconic duo.

Ant and Dec have made the final round of voting which closes 'by noon' tomorrow (Thursday, 13 October).

As well as Ant and Dec being nominated for best TV Presenter, Britain's Got Talent has also made the final round for the top 'talent show'.

A representative for Ant and Dec told LADbible: "After both feeling unwell Ant & Dec have tested for Covid and unfortunately have both tested positive. The duo will be postponing work commitments whilst they recover."

A spokesperson for Britain's Got Talent told LADbible: "Ant and Dec are both unwell and have postponed all work commitments until they recover. Sadly, this means they were unable to film Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician.
