Presenters Ant and Dec have pulled out of the National Television Awards and a Britain's Got Talent special after falling ill

Presenters Ant and Dec have pulled out of the National Television Awards and a Britain's Got Talent special after falling ill.

The National Television Awards (NTAs) is set to take place tomorrow, Thursday, 13 October.

However, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will no longer be attending after falling unwell.

The iconic presenting duo were also forced to step down from presenting the two-hour special show, Britain's Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician, as a result of their illness.

A spokesperson for Britain's Got Talent told the Mail Online: "Ant and Dec are both unwell and have postponed all work commitments until they recover.

"Sadly, this means they were unable to film Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician."

Details of Ant and Dec's illness have not been publicly released, however, the spokesperson wished them a 'speedy recovery'.

Stephen Mulhern - 'BGT's favourite magician' - is set to step in to present Britain's Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician instead.

As well as being a magician, Mulhern is also a television presenter, having first started his career on CITV.

Mulhern has presented for BGT before on its sister show, Britain's Got More Talent, which airs behind-the-scenes footage from the programme.

In a post uploaded to Twitter earlier this week on Monday, 10 October, the presenting team wrote: "It’s that time of year… the @OfficialNTAs are here! We’re over the moon to be nominated again this year. Just a few days left to support your favourite shows and stars."

Ant and Dec have made the final round of voting which closes 'by noon' tomorrow (Thursday, 13 October).

As well as Ant and Dec being nominated for best TV Presenter, Britain's Got Talent has also made the final round for the top 'talent show'.
