Parents have been criticised on TikTok for taking their son to Hooters for his fifth birthday.

Darby - who goes by @darbyallison19 on TikTok, shared a clip of her son at Hooters on his fifth birthday, but not everyone was impressed with the clip, with some thinking it was an 'inappropriate' place to take a kid.

In the video, the Hooters staff can be seen singing a happy birthday song to the little one.

"Now hold these [two foil plates], and you're gonna flap them while we sing because these are your wings, okay?," says one waitress.

Meanwhile another waitress gets the attention of the rest of the restaurant, encouraging the customers to cheer the five-year-old on.

Other parents were divided.

But not everyone was impressed with the clip, with some people criticising the parents for taking the boy to Hooters in the first place.

Hooters is a restaurant chain serving bar food and beers, where servers are often seen wearing signature orange hotpants and white vests.

One person commented: "Who brings a child to Hooters? I’m not American, and I really don’t understand the whole Hooters thing."

While another said: "Why did they go here though?"

And a third added: "Why would they bring him there, at that age, for his bday?!"

Others said they didn't see a problem.

Others didn't see the problem with the boy being at the bar, with some saying they regularly see children in Hooters.

One person wrote: "It's still a restaurant/almost sports bar. I've seen plenty of ppl bring their kids there to eat."

While another added: "Lol I think he had fun."

And a third said: "This is so adorable. A memory he will never forget."

Hooters is an American chain, but has recently made its way over to the UK, with one restaurant in Nottingham. There are plans to bring another branch to Manchester, although the idea has divided some people, who believe the US-based chain is ‘degrading to women’ because of the ‘scantily clad’ waitresses.

Despite the objections, the restaurant has been given the go ahead to open in Salford Quays.

The restaurant and bar will open from 9am to 11.30pm seven days a week (which is a reduced time from 1am). No children unaccompanied by adults will be allowed on the premises at any time, meanwhile there will be no more than double the number of seats currently available to customers and no external speakers.
