Cameron Diaz Reveals She May Once Have Been 'Used' To Smuggle Drugs Into Morocco

Cameron Diaz has claimed she was potentially 'used as a drug mule' during her early career after struggling to book modelling work.

The 49 year old actress recalled how during a year trying to get modelling work in Paris in her early 20s, she booked a job which turned out to be suspect after she was asked to carry a locked suitcase through an airport upon arrival.

While the star has been working as a catalogue model in the US, upon moving to Paris she 'didn’t work a day'.

“I was there a full year and I didn’t work one day.

"I couldn’t book a job to save my life.

"I got like one job but really I think I was like a mule carrying drugs to Morocco – I swear to God,” she told the Second Life podcast.

It was only when she was arrived at the airport in Morocco and was asked to open it that she started thinking: “What the f**k is in that suitcase?

"I’m like this blonde-haired blue-eyed girl in Morocco, it’s the nineties, I’m wearing torn jeans and platform boots and my hair down. I’m like…this is really unsafe.”

She says that she explained to officials that it was not her case and she had no idea whose it was - something which presumably wouldn’t go down very well with the more rigid security measures found at airports today.

“That was my only job I ever got in Paris,” she continued.

That's not too surprising, really.

Not long after, the star was cast in her breakout role in The Mask, which marked her film debut in 1994.

The actress, who is married to Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, went on to be one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood, but ‘retired’ from acting in 2014 to concentrate on her business ventures.

The star, who had previously released a best-selling health book while still working as actor, also took the time out to invest in health and biotech startups.

The actress recently confirmed her return to acting, starring alongside Jamie Foxx in the aptly titled Netflix comedy Back In Action.

Following the announcement last week, Cameron quipped: ''Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!!

"I can't frickin wait it's gonna be a blast!'

As well as that, she also welcomed a daughter called Raddix with her husband via surrogate in 2019.
