Ariana Grande has sent out heartfelt birthday message aimed at Mac Miller who would've been 27 today.

The late rapper and ex-boyfriend of Grande, real name Malcolm McCormick, was 26 when he passed away at his San Fernando Valley, California, on 7 September, from an overdose.

Grande took to Twitter to post a simple message seemingly aimed at Miller.

The tweet has received over 190K likes, almost 40K retweets and over 6,000 comments from fans showing their support to the still-grieving singer.

Grande and Miller had previously dated for almost two years - shortly after the pair split, he was arrested for driving under the influence.

This isn't the only time the 'Thank U, Next' singer has paid tribute to him, in the wake of his sudden death, she took to Instagram to pay a tribute to Miller, posting a simple black and white photo of the rapper with no caption.

A week after his death Grande then posted a heartbreaking video where she referred to her ex as 'the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved'.

At the time the singer had to disable comments from her posts after receiving trolling comments.

The 25-year-old had her reps release a statement explaining she was taking time to herself to 'heal and mend'.

The statement said: "Contrary to reports, Ariana will not be attending the Emmys tonight. Pete has also opted to not attend to be with her in New York.

"Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much needed time to heal and mend.

"She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for understanding.

Before Miller's shocking and sudden death, Grande was still battling with post-traumatic stress disorder following the terrorist attack at her concert in Manchester on 22 May 2017.

22 people died and more than 500 were injured in the blast at the Manchester Arena.
