Paul Walker was only 40 years old when he tragically died in 2013 - another talent taken from us too soon.

Today, September 12, marks what would have been the 45th birthday of the late actor, who was best known for his role in the Fast And Furious movie franchise.

Back in November 2013, fans were left devastated when Walker was killed after the Porsche he was travelling in smashed into a concrete pole and burst into flames.

The car was travelling at between 80 to 93mph in a 45 zone when businessman Roger Rodas, who was behind the wheel, lost control near Kelly Johnson Parkway, California. A coroner's report ruled that Walker died from the trauma of the crash as well as being burned when the vehicle caught fire.

Paul Walker may be gone but, five years on, his legacy is still shining bright in the form of his family, friends and his charity work.

His friends and co-stars often have touching things to say about Paul - the consensus is that he was kind, giving and bright.

He had a strong interest in marine life and majored in marine biology after high school. His kind-hearted nature saw him catch and tag seven great white sharks in 2010 to help track and monitor them in Mexico.

Upon his untimely death, a foundation was set up to continue his good work - The Paul Walker Foundation.

The foundation was launched by Paul's only daughter, Meadow Rain Walker, 19, and has the simple mission statement 'Do Good'.

This is said to reflect his passion for the oceans, animals, helping people and his 'spontaneous goodwill'.

The foundation aims to help in "empowering future generations by providing grants, scholarship opportunities and spontaneous acts of goodwill."

By offering marine science students and researchers the chance to get scholarships and funding, the foundation hope to make people 'better equipped with the challenges of tomorrow'.

Last year, around Paul's birthday, Meadow posted a photo of them together, when she was little, challenging fans to 'do good' by posting a video or photo of them doing a random act of kindness, then nominate four people to do the very same themselves - as a way of remembering the fourth anniversary of her dad's passing.

His daughter also recently settled a lawsuit she filed a wrongful death against Porsche on the understanding that the Carrera GT had a 'history of instability' as well as reports of mechanical issues.

She believed a fault with the seatbelt meant her dad was trapped in the car when it erupted in flames.

Paul was a pretty amazing guy, he initially used his own money to send out a disaster relief team and followed this up by launching the non-profit.

Unlike some celebrities who've set up charities, Paul always made a point to carry out his charitable acts completely under the radar and rarely in front of prying cameras.

Last month a documentary about the actor's life, called I am Paul Walker, was released featuring candid videos from moments in his life and interviews from members of his family and his friends.

He may have been played by his brother in the Fast And Furious film, Furious 7, but there will only ever be one amazing Paul Walker.
