Jake Paul reveals his next fight opponent

Jake Paul reveals his next fight opponent

The date and opponent of his next fight have been confirmed

Jake Paul will face his next opponent in the boxing ring on 15 December, it has been confirmed.

While he's got his rematch against Tommy Fury pencilled in at some point following his loss earlier in the year, Paul has his next opponent lined up already.

This year the YouTuber turned boxer lost to Fury by split decision before defeating Nate Diaz via unanimous decision.

Throughout his time in the ring, Jake Paul has racked up seven wins and one defeat, with four wins by knockout and he'll be hoping to add to his record before the year is out.

Officials have confirmed that when he steps into the ring again on 15 December it will be against Andre August and broadcast on DAZN.

While many of Paul's previous opponents have been MMA fighters who've stepped into the boxing ring (and Paul might be going the other way against Diaz next time), this will be a fight against a professional boxer.

"I'm a professional boxer and I want to be world champion, so I need to pursue the path towards greatness against people who have been boxing their whole life," Jake Paul said in a statement where he announced his next opponent.

The fight will be eight rounds at cruiserweight according to combat sports journalist, Ariel Helwani.

Andre August's career record in the ring is 10 wins, five of them by knockout, with a draw and a defeat in the mix as well.

The 35-year-old has more experience in professional boxing than Jake Paul, with his only defeat coming in 2018, and his most recent victory being against the previously-undefeated, Brandon Martin.

In his own statement on the announcement of the fight August said: "Jake Paul has the money, the fame, the team and the resources but he doesn't have my hunger.

"When that bell rings, I am going to go straight to Jake Paul and ring his bell and send him back to YouTube for good."

That's fighting talk and Paul will have to show he's got what it takes to stand in the ring with a professional boxer, who has the edge on him in terms of experience, if he wants to avoid his second defeat of 2023.

It's a response to some of Paul's critics who've accused him of not fighting enough professional boxers.

With Andre August on a five fight winning streak, it might just be his toughest fight yet.
