Footage shows the moment a passenger had to be restrained after trying to open a plane door during a flight.

Zadar Police Department said the man was a 27-year-old Brit, who was accused of ‘disrupting public order and peace in a particularly brazen and indecent manner’ at Zadar Airport in Zemunik Donji, Croatia, on Friday 30 June.

Ryanair said the flight that was due to travel to London Stansted from Zadar 'returned to stand' after a passenger became 'disruptive while preparing for take-off'.

They were removed by local police between the flight continued 'safely' to Stansted.

According to one passenger, many people on the Ryanair flight had been at Hideout Festival, which was held in Zrce, on the island of Pag, between 25 and 29 June.

“Lad wanted to open the door mid flight, going from Hideout Festival, Croatia,” TikToker @vibs1.0 said as they posted the footage – although it is not known who originally shared the video.

Zadar Police Department said the passenger was arrested at the scene and, following an investigation, was taken to the Criminal Misdemeanor Department of the Municipal Court in Zadar.

In a statement automatically translated to English, the force said: “The police officers of the Zadar Police Department have completed the criminal investigation against a 27-year-old citizen of Great Britain on suspicion of having committed the crime of coercion against an official and a misdemeanor from Art. 6 of the Act on offenses against public order and peace.”

It continued: “During the police's treatment of him, the 27-year-old suspect offered active resistance all the time, which he continued in the further course of the police's treatment, that is, during the investigation before the competent court, for which coercion was used against him.

He was restrained by a number of passengers.

“Due to his distracted state, he was then sent from the court to the hospital and physically attacked police officers in the official vehicle, as well as in the hospital premises, and tried to injure himself. As a result of the above, a police officer was injured and received minor physical injuries.”

The police department added: “After the completion of the criminal investigation, the suspected 27-year-old citizen of Great Britain was last night handed over to the custody supervisor of the Zadar Police Department with a criminal report on suspicion of committing the crime of Force on an official person, which was submitted to the competent state attorney's office in Zadar.”

A spokesperson for Ryanair told LADbible: “This flight from Zadar to London Stansted (30 June) returned to stand when an individual passenger became disruptive while preparing for take-off. The passenger was removed from the aircraft by local police before this flight continued safely to London Stansted.

"This is now a matter for local police. We sincerely apologise to affected passengers for any inconvenience caused as a result of this passenger’s disruptive behaviour.”
