Dentist Explains How They Know If You Vape

He's showed the impact vaping can have on your teeth and gums

A dentist has explained the signs he spots that let him know if his patient vapes - check it out, but be warned this video is a bit gross:

Dr Zahiri, who posts on TikTok under the handle @dentistexplains, shared a clip in which he pointed out the things dentists might see in the mouths of people who vape.

Starting the clip, Dr Zahiri asks: “Does your dentist know that you’ve been vaping?’ before explaining: “Vaping causes a dry mouth, which leads to bad breath.

“Vapers also have a lot of cavities. Vapers also have gum disease, which leads to bone loss and gum loss. Yikes.”

He then shares a shot of a tooth falling out and adds: “Unfortunately this is the end result of smoking.”

The clip appeared to panic some TikTok users, with one asking: “What if you did it a few times and finish you stopped will it still show?”

Dr Zahiri has pointed out the most common side affects vaping has on a person's mouth.

Another asked if you did it once would it have an impact, to which Dr Zahiri confirmed it wouldn’t.

However others seemed less bothered - one commenter joked: “Oh really? sheesh *hits vape*” and another said: “I got no cavities nothing wrong with my gums nothing wrong with my teeth at all except I got slightly yellow natural teeth.”

Last year, a fellow TikTok-using dentist revealed that he and his colleagues can spot when someone has given a lot of oral sex.

The dentist, who is known as @dentite on the platform, responded to claims that dentists are able to spot whether a patient has had oral sex.

In a video to his account, he explained: "I get this question a lot, and yeah, we know."

In a second video, he then elaborates on exactly how this is possible.

He says: "Palatal petechia. This is what it's called. If you like, say, sucking on a lollipop, one or two, here or there, not a big deal. But let's say you like sucking on multiple, multiple, multiple, multiple lollipops all the time, you've got a problem that's gonna cause palatal petechia."

Another dentist pointed out the 'signs' of oral sex.

Then, sharing a photo of what it looks like IRL, he says: "As you can see, bruising of the soft palate and irritation right there."

Several other dentists also chimed in on the post to confirm what was said in the clip.

Several other dentists have also chimed in with their expertise. Just in case you don't believe him.

Responding to questions from people on social media, TikTok dentist @thyrants said: "Yeah, sometimes we can tell.

"And it's usually bruising on the soft palate called petechiae. But unless the patient's really young or shows signs of abuse, we don't care."
