With scores of businesses shutting their doors to slow the spread of coronavirus, many people have been trying to replicate at home what they usually pay someone else to do for them.

Some are realising completing their task is harder than it looks; such as this dog owner who tried to cut her pooch's hair all by herself.

Sydney resident Hermione uploaded photos of her pet dog Mash, revealing her at-home makeover didn't really go according to plan.

She wrote on Instagram: "Take it from Mash and wait until the professionals are back."

Most people would look at trimming a dog's hair and think 'it can't be that hard'. If you just keep a keen eye on the length then surely all you have to do is cut it down a little.

Well, in combination with an animal that probably won't sit still and virtually no experience, this is what can happen when you take matters into your own hands.

After the dog groomers closed their doors, Hermione bought some clippers and gave it a go. However, she quickly realised the blades were too wide and ended up taking off a lot more than she wanted.

Thankfully, hair grows back, right? RIGHT?

But Hermione isn't the only person who is struggling with finishing off a passion project while in self-isolation.

A New Zealand TV presenter and comedian publicly apologised for making a cake in the form of her prime minister Jacinda Ardern.

Laura Daniel's recreation of Ardern's face in cake form is absolutely terrifying and the results are not lost on the Seven Sharp presenter.

Writing on social media, Ms Daniel said: "They say don't bake your heroes. But I wanted to try anyway.

"I'm deeply sorry @jacindaardern I truly tried my best with what I had available... it's made from another NZ icon lolly cake."

The post on social media has attracted thousands of likes and even the attention of the Prime Minister.

Jacinda Ardern simply replied with two shocked emojis and that's all that needed to be said.
