Gene Wilder Has Died Aged 83 From Complications Related To Alzheimer’s Disease

He died late last night in Stamford, Connecticut his nephew has said.

Actor Jerome Silberman, known professionally as Gene Wilder, who played the lead role in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory the 1971 film adaptation of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, has died aged 83, his family have told the Associated Press.

Wilder also starred in classic films such as Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles.

Jordan Walker-Pearlman, Wilder's nephew, has said that the actor and writer died late last night in Stamford, Connecticut from complications related to Alzheimer's disease.

The two-time Oscar nominated actor had previously been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1989.

RIP.
