Great-Grandma Credits Jägerbombs And Tequila For Making It To 102 Years Old

Great-Grandma Credits Jägerbombs And Tequila For Making It To 102 Years Old

She's partial to a shot and loves tucking into Domino's pizza and Greggs' sausage rolls

A 102-year-old great-grandmother has credited tequila shots, sausage rolls, Domino’s pizza and Jägerbombs for her long life. This is very good news for me, I won’t lie.

Lily Bullen celebrated her birthday surrounded by her friends and family, including her three children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lily, who lives in a care home in Bromsgrove, is renowned for her enjoying a boozy shot at family gatherings, and loves to tuck into Domino’s pizza, Greggs’ sausage rolls and cream cakes. Sounds like a bloody brilliant diet, if you ask me.

Incredibly, the fun-loving granny tried ice-skating for the very first time aged 99 and absolutely loved it, and she celebrated her one-hundredth birthday by knocking back a tequila shot – but her favourite pastime is watching her great-grandkids play.

Lily is the only child of parents Lily and Frank Dutton.

She married Geoffrey Bullen and the couple had three children: Tricia; Dayl; and Martyn.

Sadly, Geoffrey passed away in 1988 at the age of 68.

Lily has watched her family grow over the years, with her children giving her five grandchildren: Amanda; Joanne; Adam; Holly; and Frank.

She's now a great-grandmother to Tobey, Mila, Alfie, and Lottie.

Granddaughter Holly West, 40, from Worcester, said, "Her favourite pastime when she can is to watch her great-grandchildren play.

"She had a surprise birthday party for her 100th birthday, where she did a tequila shot, she also did a Jägerbomb and tequila shot at our wedding in 2013.

"The world went into lockdown the week after her birthday.

"She’s been reminiscing about the Birmingham bombings with the Russia-Ukraine news."

Lily isn’t the only woman to claim the secret to longevity is enjoying the odd tipple.

Last summer, Mary Tipping turned 100 and said it was all thanks to an active lifestyle and drinking plenty of Guinness. See? It’s true what they say – it’s all about balance.

Talking about her key to a long life, Mary said: "Working for so long kept me active and the daily Guinness never did me any harm."

And despite hitting her tenth decade, she still knocks back a bottle of the Black Stuff every day. Nicely done.
