Gross Reason Why You Shouldn’t Make Your Bed In The Morning

Gross Reason Why You Shouldn’t Make Your Bed In The Morning

The reality behind our sweaty bedsheets is rather unpleasant

There's a bit of gross reason why some experts have told us not to make your bed in the morning.

Despite popular belief that making your bed every morning is a great way to start your day, some have suggested, almost, the complete opposite.

The mattress experts at And So To Bed disagree – and it's all because of hygiene, the Metro reports.

They say that, especially in the summer, a considerable amount of moisture and sweat is built up within the sheets, as the average adult loses 285ml of fluid each night, according to The Sleep Council.

So, during those warm months, when the temperature is ramped up, you apparently need to pull back the bed linen in order to let the mattress 'breathe', which gives the moisture a chance to evaporate.

To be honest, perhaps the best reason to not make your bed in the morning is so you have a valid comeback to your housemates who complain about your messy room.

It also turns out that other experts appear to be giving people the same advice.

Dr Karan Raj, who's become a hit on TikTok, has echoed the thoughts of the previous experts.

The NHS doctor said: "Stop making your bed first thing in the morning, it's going to make you healthy.

"Making your bed in the morning traps dust mites that have accumulated over night. These microscopic predators, which are less than a millimetre long, feed on the scales of human skin and thrive in moist environments.

"When we sleep at night, our bodies become warm and sweaty, making them prime targets for these mites to feed on.

"They will leave behind excretions which can give us asthma or allergy-like symptoms.

"So making your bed in the morning traps all this moisture and provides a home for 1.5 million of these bad boys."

Adding: "Instead leave your bed messy just for a while. It exposes these mites to air and sunlight, which dehydrate them and causes them to die."

Cleaning expert Mrs. D also explained why our beds need time to 'breathe' in the morning.

She said: "It seems a lot of people get up and make the bed straight away. This is something you need to stop doing.

"Get out of bed and throw the duvet back and let your bed breathe."

Brb, just going to mess up my bed real quick.
