Guard Dog Completely Fails At Job By Lying Down Next To Drug Gang During Raid

Probably not what they were hoping for

A guard dog has been blasted after it failed to protect a gang during a raid. Have a look:

Cops burst into a drug den in Hortolandia, Sao Paulo state, Brazil, yesterday (28 July), seizing 1.1 tonnes of marijuana.

And as well as losing their stash, three dealers were arrested during the raid.

In a video shared online, the band of criminals can be seen lying face down on the ground, with their hands cuffed behind their backs.

Unfortunately for them, their investment in security didn't pay off.

That's because as well as them, their guard dog is also seen flopped down on the floor beside them, not making any fuss whatsoever.

Probably not the reaction they were hoping for, was it?

The dog didn't get the memo.

According to police, the drugs had been shipped to the house from Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul state.

Officers had been surveilling the property for some time, and were ready to pounce when the delivery was made.

The authorities believe the drugs were going to be sold in and around Campinas, Sao Paulo state.

Following the raid, the men – one of whom owned the house – were taken to police headquarters in nearby Americana.

Animal lovers among you will be happy to know that the dog was not arrested, though. Phew.

Police said that the pooch remained in the property with the female owner of the land around the house.

Earlier this month, residents of a town in Colombia became engulfed by a huge marijuana cloud after a controlled burning became, well, uncontrolled.

It was initially feared that a fire was spreading in Bello, Medellín, but people soon realised that it didn't smell like your average blaze.

It turned out police had tried to do a controlled burning of seized weed, but it proved to be anything but as winds picked up.

Resident Edilberto Castaño told Caracol TV: "We felt a very horrible smoke coming out of the battalion, a tremendous smell of marijuana that stopped everyone."

Authorities had recently seized 1.5 tonnes of marijuana, and it was celebrated as an import triumph over drug dealers.

Daniela Ortega, secretary of security for Bello, said: "This is one more blow that we can give in the municipality of Bello in coordination with the National Police.

"We invite citizens to continue denouncing and to continue believing in the institutions."

However, this faith in the institutions may been weakened following the burning, which reportedly forced several tower blocks to be evacuated.

According to Colombian newspaper El Espectador, one resident said: "Complete negligence. So-called controlled burning.

"Several apartment towers had to be evacuated because of this little joke. Someone needs to answer for this bad decision."
