The Resident Evil and John Wick actor passed away suddenly, at age 60, on 17 March, 2023.

It was ruled Reddick died of natural causes - ischemic heart disease and atherosclerotic coronary artery, as per TMZ.

However, Reddick's lawyer, James Hornstein, has since contested the results of the autopsy, calling the information on the actor's death certificate 'wholly inconsistent'.

Lance Reddick starred in 'The Wire'.

Hornstein reflected on the late actor as being one of the 'most physically fit' people he's 'ever known'.

In a statement to People, the lawyer said: "I have represented Lance Reddick for many years and continue to represent his wife Stephanie. The coroner statement on the death certificate is not a result of an autopsy. No autopsy was performed on Lance. To my knowledge, no medical examination of Lance during his lifetime ever indicated such conditions.

"Lance exercised daily at his home gym, including extensive cardio work, and the availability of gym facilities was a contractual requirement for his work away from home. He ate as if a dietician was monitoring his every meal.

"The information appearing on the death certificate is wholly inconsistent with his lifestyle.

"On behalf of [Lance’s wife] Stephanie Reddick, the death certificate information is not corroborated and is inconsistent with the facts known to the family."

"Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day.

"I see your messages and can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have them."

Fans of the actor have flooded to social media to commemorate him.

One Twitter user wrote: "My heart will forever have a hole. Rest in Peace, Lance. You meant a lot to me. You will never be forgotten. May your legacy live on."

"Lance Reddick really was one of the best actors of his generation. Went from playing an undercover crackhead in Oz to Lt. Daniels in The Wire. Top tier talent. Very natural," another commented.

A third said: "The late great Lance Reddick as Lord General Sensus; once a traumatized boy, grown to be a man of deep feelings who sacrifices every joy, comfort and desire for the sake of others, even those who despise him. RIP Lance! We didn't have enough time with you."

A final added: "Lance Reddick was such an underrated talent. RIP King."
