South Australia Police have charged a man with striking an employee who asked to be paid.

A video quickly went viral on social media and showed the former Fun Tea staff member confronting her employer over being underpaid. Other media also report the argument was over unpaid trial shifts.

The two argued back and forth in Mandarin until another man stepped in and slapped her across the face.

That caused people on both sides of the argument to get heated and the video, filmed on January 29, shows the alleged attacker also kicked the 20-year-old woman in the stomach.

CCTV vision from the business shows the two people were involved in a heated argument just moments before the brawl.

She initially walked off after the argument at the front-of-house, but later returned with friends to properly confront the two people. That's when it escalated.

South Australia Police have released a statement, saying: "A Glen Osmond man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman at a Gouger Street business last Friday night.

"Police will allege the 39-year-old man, assaulted a woman at a Gouger Street business on Friday 29 January, by striking the woman in the face and kicking her in the stomach.

"The victim of the assault, a 20-year-old Adelaide woman was treated by paramedics at the scene on the night, before being transported to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

"A short time ago, Eastern District police arrested the man and charged him with assault. He has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 7 May. The police investigation is continuing."
