We're literally day one into Anthony Albanese's Prime Ministership and people are already looking at the next election and placing their odds.

Sportsbet is tipping the Labor leader will win again in three years when we're due for another federal vote.

News.com.au reports that Sportsbet is offering odds of AUD$1.50 for Labor to win, $2.65 for a Coalition victory and $51 for any other party.

Sportsbet’s Sean Ormerod said: “We’re not sure how much sleep Anthony Albanese got last night, so the next election will be the furthest thing from his mind, but we are already tipping Labor to go to back-to-back.”

The news comes as Albanese was today (May 23) sworn in as Australia’s 31st Prime Minister, with the entire ministry being sworn in the following week.

Prime Minister Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong will also be heading to Tokyo to attend the Quad summit to meet with the leaders of the US, Japan and India.

The Prime Minister said he intends to represent a different kind of Australian government in the meeting, putting forth the climate crisis as a significant issue the country wishes to address, according to ABC News.

"The meetings that we will have, not just with the United States, but importantly with our hosts in Japan and India are going to be very important, in a good way, to send a message to the world that there's a new government in Australia,” he said.

“It's a government that represents a change, in terms of the way that we deal with the world on issues like climate change but also a continuity in the way that we have respect for democracy and the way that we value our friendships and long time alliances."

At the moment, it’s unclear who will be the Leader of the Opposition and many are speculating it could be Peter Dutton.

Sky News reports that Liberal MP Alan Tudge revealed that the former Minister for Defence would be a great option to replace Scott Morrison.

He said: "Peter Dutton will be leader. I think he will be incredibly effective, he has immense character and experience.

"We have deep values within the Liberal Party and I think we need to go back to those values."

Mr Tudge also added a ‘strong woman’ is needed in the role of deputy leader.

Until then, it's all been a celebratory party for Albanese as world leaders congratulate him on his win.

Joe Biden was particularly thrilled, with the White House releasing a statement that said: "President Biden reaffirmed the United States’ steadfast commitment to the US-Australia alliance and his intent to work closely with the new government to make it stronger still.

“President Biden expressed deep appreciation for the prime minister-designate’s own early commitment to the alliance, reflected in his decision to travel almost immediately to Tokyo to attend the Quad Summit.”
