Assistance Dogs Australia Is Looking For People To Look After Their Puppies

You'll have to adhere to some strict rules to get this eight-week-old pup in your arms.

Assistance Dogs Australia is in need of some Aussies who can give them a hand.

It's a job that is racked with stress, anxiety, absolutely no fun whatsoever and will provide nothing good to you: looking after the most adorable puppies on earth.

Of course, we're kidding about the terrible parts of this job because what could be more fun and enriching than being the parent and guardian of an eight-week-old puppy?

But you will need to be pretty strict with these baby animals as they will have to be ready for training after their year with you is up.

They have to be on their best behaviour if they're going to be working with people with physical disabilities, children with autism, and those with PTSD. That all starts with you.

Thankfully you won't have to be training them yourselves; that is left up to the professionals.

But Assistance Dogs Australia says they need someone who's working part-time or less because the puppies can't be left alone for more than four hours.

You'll also have to be someone who has the enthusiasm to take on a fresh pup and be available for fortnightly lessons.

In order to be eligible for the role, you'll also have to have a home that can accomodate a dog inside; have a secure, fenced backyard; go through a police check and not have children under the age of five.

Assistance Dogs Australia will provide you with all the food, training equipment, and tick, flea and worming preventatives while you look after the pup.

After the year-long adoption, you will then have to make the heartbreaking move to hand the pooch back to Assistance Dogs Australia HQ.

Hopefully they will get through training without a hitch and graduate to help vulnerable people in our community.

Assistance Dogs Australia needs people in Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, Sydney, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Woollongong to apply, which you can do here.
