Australian actor Johnny Ruffo has been through absolute hell and back in recent years.

However, the former Home and Away star has again been dealt a tough blow from doctors who told him his brain cancer has returned.

He was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2017 after suffering through a difficult migraine. He underwent surgery in August, however just a week after his procedure was finished it was revealed he had brain cancer.

Ruffo revealed two years later that he was 'free from cancer' and he released a song after getting the encouraging news. Sadly, its appears his cancer has returned.

Writing on Instagram, the singer, dancer and actor wrote: "After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned.

"Though I will dig deep and beat this s**t disease again."

Fans and supporters have rallied around the Aussie star and have sent him kind messages encouraging him to dig deep through the next round of treatment.

One person wrote: "We're all here for you buddy. Sending love."

Another added: "So sorry to hear this. Wishing you all the strength in the world as you fight this new battle."

A third said: "Oh Johnny!!! Sending nothing but love. Best of luck!!"

Earlier this year, Johnny opened up about how important it was to have a support network when he was going through his first round battle with brain cancer.

Speaking to The Morning Show, the 32-year-old said it was important to ask for help when you need it because cancer is an absolute b**ch to deal with alone.

"It's not just related to my experience with cancer. Everyone goes through something that's tough, that they might feel is too hard to handle on their own," he said on the Channel 7 programme.

"And when you do go through these things, there's always someone to help you."

When he was first diagnosed with a brain tumour, Johnny explained how he went to sleep one day with a severe headache and woke up three days later with 27 staples in his head and a tube coming out of his head.

He had to undergo emergency surgery to remove the 7cm tumour, which he had a one in 20 chance of dying from.

Here's hoping he can beat this terrible disease for a second time. Good luck Johnny.
